Dynamic IP addresses are most frequently assigned on LANs and broadband networks by Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) servers. They are used because it avoids the administrative burden of assigning specific static addresses to each device on a network. It also allows many devices to share limited address space on a network if only some of them will be online at a particular time. In most current desktop operating systems, dynamic IP configuration is enabled by default so that a user does not need to manually enter any settings to connect to a network with a DHCP server.

If your Internet Address IP is provided to you Dynamicaly by your ISP, it means this IP Address will change in the next days/weeks. UnveilTech WebFilter SaaS works by checking your Internet IP Address to autorize/block categories you have selected in the WebFilter SaaS Dashboard. If your Internet IP Address changes, the UnveilTech SaaS can NOT identify your configuration as it is still using the previous IP Address. The result will be that your surf will not be managed anymore.

If your ISP provides you a Static Internet IP Address it means your Internet IP Address never changes, so no need to use the UnveilTech Dynamic DNS.

Let say there is no defined rules about who provides Dynamic or Static Internet IP Addresses. In general, ISPs provide Static IP Addresses to professionals and entreprises. With Home Users, you can receive a Static or a Dynamic, it depends your ISP.

Easy procedure to check if Dynamic or Static:
1. Visit this web site www.whatismyipaddress.com
2. Note your Internet IP Address on the top right (ex: IP Information: 123.124.125.126)
3. Restart your Internet Modem/Router
4. Go back to www.whatismyipaddress.com
5. Check if your IP Information has changed

• If your IP Address changed, it means your ISP provides you a Dynamic Internet IP Address
• If your IP Address is still the same, it does NOT mean your ISP provides you a Dynamic Internet IP Address. It only means you should repeat this operation later (in 2-3 days) to be sure.

No, you do not.
The UnveilTech Dynamic DNS should be installed on 1 computer only (Microsoft Windows Vista or above) per Network. The computer should be running during your period of surf in order to correctly update your Internet IP Address to our system.

If the computer hosting the UnveilTech Dynamic DNS is not running, your ISP might change your Internet IP Address (they never inform you and it is automatic) so you can be using a new Internet IP Address without any protection.

If you decide to protect many Networks (or Internet IP Addresses), you must install an UnveilTech Dynamic DNS on each network.

We advice you to do not use this scenario. The UnveilTech Dynamic DNS must be installed on a computer that do not move from your Home or Entreprise. If you install the tool on your laptop and move outside, you will update your Internet IP Address incorrectly by using the Internet IP Address of your school, cyber-cafe, friend house, etc...

Installation:
1. Download the UnveilTech Dynamic DNS 1.0 (363Kb)
2. Run the tool
3. Follow the instructions

Initial Setup:
1. Go to the Windows Task Bar and double-click on the icon
2. This dialog will appear:
   
3. In the dialog, enter the Email address and Password you used during the registration of the New Network
4. Then, enter the Network ID (Network ID is defined on the WebFilter SaaS Dashboard)
5. You should have something like this:
   
6. Click the button Update my Network
7. Finaly, click the button Close

• If all items are correct, the message will be IP Address is uptodate
• The UnveilTech Dynamic DNS will update your Internet IP Address every 5 minutes to the UnveilTech WebFilter SaaS system
• The UnveilTech Dynamic DNS will indicate an error if the Email address, Password or Network ID are not correct

Registration Setup:
1. Go to www.noip.com website to register a new Host name.
2. Enter a Username (e.g: JohnSmith)
3. Enter a Password and confirm it
4. Enter a valid Email Address (you will have to confirm the registration)
5. Do NOT select a Hostname but select Create my hostname later like this:
   
6. Then click the button Sign Up on the column "Free DNS"
   
7. The step of registration is done, you have to check your mailbox to confirm:
   
8. Once you have confirmed the registration, log in to add your Internet Dynamic Host
9. Now, you are in Your No-IP dashboard like this:
   
10. Click the button Add a Host, a new section will appear:
    
11. Here, you just have to enter the name of your Hostname and select the domain (1st line). Select a domain in the section No-IP Free Domains.
12. Keep all other details by default.
13. Click the button Add Host
14. Your Host Name is now created and will be active on Internet in the next minutes:
    
15. Last step is to configure your ADSL Routeur/Modem with the same login/password used during the registration (e.g: JohnSmith):
    
16. Finally, go back to the SaaS Dashboard and enter you Host name in the field Internet Dynamic Host: Empty
